And this same God who takes of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
God, who is the giver of every good and perfect gift, never stops giving. He is aware of our needs even before we are. What are your needs today? Not your wants, your needs? I tend to think that all I need is healing. If I were healed everything would be just fine. I need healing, I want healing, but only God knows my greatest point of need. Only God can fully address that need.
Jesus made it possible for us to come to God empty handed and leave with more than we could have dared ask or believe for. He loves to give good gifts to His children. Sometimes I hear people say God gave me this disease to teach me something. While I do believe God uses whatever comes into our lives for our good and can turn even pain and disease into teachable moments, I do not believe pain or sickness or disease are “gifts” from Him no matter the good that may come from them.
I’ve also heard people say they weren’t going to go to the altar for healing because other people’s need for healing was so much greater. What’s their backache compared to someone’s cancer? But that implies that God has a limited supply of healing to give. There is no lack in the kingdom of God.
Can we see him today as the God that takes care of me and can still take care of you and every other child of His? Can we see His unlimited glorious riches that He loves to bestow upon us?
Father, forgive me, for limiting You. For trying to see and comprehend You through my narrow perspective. Thank You for abundantly supplying all my needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. Open my eyes to see You as I open my life to receive from Your gracious hand. In Jesus’s name, amen.
I would love to hear from you. Please let me know if I can be praying for you as well.
