The Freeze Game

No weapon that is formed against you will prosper;  Isaiah 54:17 A couple of weeks ago at work, the kids were playing the Freeze Game. This is a game they made up and if I understand the rules correctly, if the “Freezer” pointed his his freeze machine (his hand) at you and made a slight hissing noise then you were frozen.  I don’t know for how long.  A five year old approached me with his freeze machine pointed at me and said he was going to freeze me.   I asked him if he knows what the Bible says. He said … Continue reading The Freeze Game

Build Your Faith

Every healing Jesus provided in the New Testament had one common piece. Even though the method changed this piece was present, either in the individual in need of healing or those around him.  And that element was faith!  Faith is simply believing the words of Jesus. If He said it, He meant it, if He meant it, it must be true. Our job is to settle the issue in our heart.   So the obvious next question would be – how do I build my faith?   Romans 10:17 tells us – So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word … Continue reading Build Your Faith

This is Jesus

At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Luke 4:40 How to receive your healing Receiving your healing comes down to just one word – faith.  How did you receive salvation and forgiveness for your sins? Faith.  It’s the same principle.  Numerous people have produced books and videos that teach about healing. Simply reading them will not necessarily produce a healing. The truth presented needs to be received and believed and this becomes faith.  The best book for learning about divine healing is, of … Continue reading This is Jesus

It Is Finished

I sat in a doctor’s office the other day. Having switched insurance providers, this visit was merely an opportunity to meet each other. He had my health records from my other provider. He had seen on my record the diagnosis of fibromyalgia and mentioned that I would have that for the rest of my life. I told him that I had been healed of that some years ago. Divinely healed by God. He is a Christian and asked how did that healing happen. I told him mostly through prayer but I realized later that before the prayers, there had to … Continue reading It Is Finished

Blowing In The Wind

At the beginning I declare the outcome;    from of old, things not yet done.I say that my plan shall stand,    I accomplish my every desire. Isaiah 46:10 As a young teenager, some of my fondest memories are of my older sister teaching me to play guitar. We didn’t ordinarily spend a good deal of time together so when we did, it was special to me. One song she taught me and we sang together was Bob Dylan’s Blowing In The Wind. I love that song and it is probably just as relevant today as it was then. In case you aren’t familiar … Continue reading Blowing In The Wind

Beloved

“I have called you by name, from the very beginning. You are mine and I am yours. You are my Beloved, on you my favor rests. I have molded you together in your mother’s womb. I have carved you in the palms of my hands and hidden you in the shadow of my embrace. I look at you with infinite tenderness and care for you with a care more intimate than that of a mother for her child. I have counted every hair on your head and guided you at every step. Wherever you go, I go with you, and … Continue reading Beloved

Sorry Not Today

You know that God anointed Jesus from Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went everywhere and did good things, such as healing everyone who was under the devil’s power. Jesus did these things because God was with him. Acts 10:38 I’ve looked. I can’t find it. Nowhere in the Bible, to my knowledge, does Jesus tell someone, “sorry, not today.”  Nowhere do I see Him turning away someone who needed healing and saying sorry, I can’t help you today. What I do read is that He went everywhere healing and doing good things and setting people free … Continue reading Sorry Not Today

Lost at Sea

Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, “Quiet! Settle down!” The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass.  Jesus reprimanded the disciples: “Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith at all?” Mark 4:39 Some of the kids I work with, I have worked with for over two years. Long enough, I would think, to prove my character about certain issues, to know whether I actually mean it when I say something, whether I will actually follow through with the consequences.  This is how the conversation usually plays … Continue reading Lost at Sea

Temporary Captivity

‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, declares the Lord… Jeremiah 29:11-14 Fear grips me every morning before I get out of bed. Just this vague and uncomfortable sense that all is not well. Granted, I don’t … Continue reading Temporary Captivity

A Balanced Equation

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.  3 John 1:2 Years ago, I had to revisit algebra in an attempt to help our son with his school work.  One thing I learned is that equations need to be balanced.  For example 2 +5 = 10-3 is a balanced equation.  You probably remember from school that what you do to one side of that equation, you have to do to the other side to keep it balanced. An equation can be unbalanced otherwise. When I looked at this … Continue reading A Balanced Equation
