Healing – Accomplished!

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.  Isaiah 55:11

So it had come to this—me standing in the surgeon’s office looking at x-rays of my shoulder. My left shoulder had been in constant pain for months. My left arm was useless because of the pain. I couldn’t lift anything; I could barely move my arm at all. Just trying to take the covers off of me to get out of bed was extremely painful. The sharp pain had come on so fast and remained so long and I had seen doctors to no avail and now a surgeon. I don’t know much about x-rays, but even I knew something was wrong. There were no bones showing in this X-ray. No shoulder bone, no collar-bone, no arm bone showed at all until closer to my elbow.

I was fascinated by that and only partially listening to the surgeon. “The bones,” he said, “are not showing up because of inflammation,” and he went on to describe the surgery he was convinced would make me all better. Something about bone spurs and rotary cuff and lengthening a tendon, or was it a ligament?

I wasn’t really listening. Surgery was not an option—I had no insurance and certainly didn’t have a large enough savings account to cover surgery costs.

Not knowing what else to say, I asked him how I got this way.

He knew my past, that I had lived in Montana and had horses and dairy goats and raised beef and pork for our family. He knew that meant lifting heavy bales of hay and straw and carrying 80 lb. bags of feed and lifting saddles on and off horses.

He answered, “These kinds of injuries can come on because of overuse.”

As soon as he said those words, I heard the Holy Spirit rise up in me and say, “No, you were not created to fall apart with use. God restores your youth like the eagle” (Psalm 103:5).

Then the surgeon continued, “And some people are genetically predisposed to these kind of injuries.”

At that the Holy Spirit rose up big in me and almost shouted, “No, you were not genetically predisposed for this. You were fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

Inwardly, I rejoiced. Outwardly, I told the surgeon I would get back to him.

I walked out of that office healed. The pain in my shoulder left as soon as the Holy Spirit gave me those words, the report of the Lord! That pain has never come back, and I never had the surgery. It has been well over a decade now!

The Holy Spirit has been called our Comforter. He is the one who brings to our remembrance the Word of God that has been deposited in us so that in moments when we can’t think rightly, He is there with just the right words for that moment. Isn’t that awesome and comforting? God’s Word is the tool He uses, and His word goes out with the power to accomplish exactly what He sent it for!

Thank You Father for the gift of the Holy Spirit, our resident Counselor. Thank You that Your words have power, power to heal and power to mend. Help me to remember that the report of my Lord is always greater than the report of the doctors. Help me to remember that Your word trumps every other word out there, in Jesus’s name, amen.

I would love to hear from you. Please let me know if I can be praying for you as well.

  1. Diane, I think I was meant to read this post today.

Every day, I ask God for encouragement and confirmation.
It’s long, but I’m going to copy and paste what I recently wrote on Facebook regarding my hubby Jerry:

This is a call to recruit prayer warriors, those who will stand with us in faith believing.
I have hesitated to post anything about this for a long time, because we cannot afford negativity. We are very well aware of the situation, and what it could lead to in terms of natural progression.
BUT GOD is stronger, more powerful, and greater than all things created. The Creator has all authority in the affairs of the created; the “manufacturer” is best suited to “repair” the “manufactured.”
As of February 2020, after chemo treatments since last summer, the leukemia in Jerry’s body has been in remission. Praise God!
Also, at that time, he received radiation therapy – 19 treatments – on the melanoma on the side of his head, just above and behind his right ear. We were told that melanomas are very difficult to kill. The radiation reduced the large size of the tumor down almost flat to his head, and the circumference was made much smaller.
Recently, Jerry spent 3 1/2 weeks at the VA hospital in Lake Nona. He went in for a high fever. They got rid of the infection. They also found a small fracture in his hip. That seems to have also healed. Praise God.
He went through a few-day confusion period. I’m still not clear as to the cause. I was told it could have been related to meds, or, it could have been “hospital delirium.” This, I was told, is fairly common among older people who are in the hospital for an extended period. All I know is that he was fine on a Wednesday, but Thursday morning he couldn’t put words together much. Some sentences were ok, but, then, he would repeat several words and couldn’t make intelligible conversation. This got worse through the day on Thursday. (I was not allowed to visit because of Covid.) Friday, they moved him to a room directly across from the nurses’ station and posted a sitter to stay with him because he was flailing and trying to get up, and was out of his head. Thing is: Nobody told me!!! I was anxious all day at work on Friday. That night I found the number to speak to the nurses. Saturday morning was the same. I felt frantic. I had to go to a pet job. On the way home, I prayed as hard as I could, crying, and going into praying in tongues. (NO JUDGEMENT, please!)
I read about hospital delirium. It is not dementia. It comes suddenly within hours and can take MONTHS to go, if ever. All I know is: After pouring my heart out to God, Jerry GOT BETTER! –almost immediately! Within 24 hours he was Jerry again.
While in the hospital, they gave him a CT to check for stroke: negative. They gave him an MRI. Results: They found tiny spots on his brain where the melanoma has spread.
He is home, with periodic care from VITAS hospice.
We are not accepting this prognosis!
We are CONFIDENT that God is in the process of healing Jerry.
We DO NOT need realists, we need people of prayer and faith to join us.
WARNING: If anyone posts anything negative, or tells negative stories about “Uncle Fred” who had …, you will likely be removed from my friend list!!
Daily, Jerry is getting stronger in his body. He was very weak from the hospital stay. Sometimes, he has severe biting pain at the melanoma; other times, it’s not bad. He doesn’t sleep well at night. He has a hospital bed and other equipment here at home. He WANTS to beat this thing! DO NOT pray for him to die peacefully!!! We both believe Jerry still has something to do for God’s kingdom before he goes home to heaven.
God has revealed and confirmed several times that Jerry is being healed ON THE EARTH. He has given me things that I could not have dreamed up on my own…it’s God speaking!
PRAY BELIEVING! God told me, “Now is the time for MIRACLES!”
BY JESUS’ STRIPES JERRY IS HEALED!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your prayers Diane.
    Blessings and love,
    Cindy

    1. Now is indeed the time for miracles. I am sorry about this ordeal you two have been through. I can’t imagine how difficult it has been especially with COVID preventing you from seeing him. I am joining with you in prayer for complete and total healing here and now, this side of heaven!

    1. Thank you very much. The Bible also tells us that on the testimony of two or three witnesses of matter is confirmed. I think combined we have three witnesses don’t we? Actually four because we can count God’s word as a witness.

      1. Diane, God has also healed me, declared a miracle by my doctor. He healed me of fibromyalgia (there is no cure) and chronic fatigue syndrome. Praise the Lord! He is the same today as yesterday, and the same tomorrow. God still heals!
