Lottery Ticket

Last year, the school where I worked held their annual plastic drive. Families bring in plastic trash and the classroom with the highest weight of recyclable plastic wins.  The school in the district with the highest weight wins. The previous year, our school won and the kids would like to win again. I brought in a large bag (4 feet tall by 2 1/2 feet wide) stuffed with plastic.  All of the kids wanted to take that to their class but only one bag so, in an effort to be fair, we decided on lottery tickets. I put kid’s names … Continue reading Lottery Ticket

Glimpses of Heaven

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,    on earth as it is in heaven”… Matthew 6: 9-10 Years ago, when I was part of an intercessory prayer team, a mother asked us to pray for her daughter.  Her little girl was 4 and couldn’t walk.  She had numerous other issues and I forget what the diagnosis was but the prognosis was that she didn’t have long to live.  We prayed and then shared what we believed God had given us for this little girl.  Everyone shared that they saw … Continue reading Glimpses of Heaven

Angels Rejoicing

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:7 Some years ago, I went to the Healing Rooms to have people pray for me. I had had chronic pain for the majority of the past two decades. Two wonderful women prayed for me and one told me that while she was praying for me, she saw the angels in heaven rejoicing over my healing. She was all excited about that and I tried to be but … Continue reading Angels Rejoicing

Secondary Barrenness

Our first attempt at having a child ended in miscarriage.   This was 1995.  It was a devastating loss and as I lay on the sofa one day healing, the Holy Spirit said, “Get up and go to ORU”.   We lived in Tulsa at the time just about a mile from Oral Roberts University and so I got up and made the drive. Once there, having no further instructions, I went to the gift store.  There was no one there.  I walked around looking at the items for sale and wondered what my next move was to be.  Shortly, a … Continue reading Secondary Barrenness

God’s Economy

Years ago, when I lived in Montana, I had a wonderful gelding named Apache. The whole family loved that horse. Anyone could ride him; he was totally trustworthy. I especially liked taking him out on short jaunts in the woods. Fearless, smart and oh, how he loved to run, but there was one thing he would not do. He would not jump over anything. No, not ever, which most of the time was fine. But sometimes, in the woods, when a tree had fallen across the trail our ride would have been much nicer if he would have just jumped … Continue reading God’s Economy

They Will Recover

These signs will accompany those who have believed: … they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 6:17-18 Jesus is talking here, commissioning His disciples and commissioning those of us who follow Him.  We will lay hands on the sick and when we do, the sick will recover. I don’t see any qualifiers in this verse. It doesn’t say, those who went to seminary will lay hands on, or those with a special anointing will lay hands on, or those who are “prayed up” will lay hands on and they will recover. No, He just says, those … Continue reading They Will Recover

Healing – Accomplished!

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.  Isaiah 55:11 So it had come to this—me standing in the surgeon’s office looking at x-rays of my shoulder. My left shoulder had been in constant pain for months. My left arm was useless because of the pain. I couldn’t lift anything; I could barely move my arm at all. Just trying to take the covers off of me to get out of bed was extremely painful. The sharp pain had … Continue reading Healing – Accomplished!

Lesser Blood

His sweat was, as it were, great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.  Luke 22:44 Lesser blood.  That was my first thought.  I am not proud of that, just saying. I was secluded in the lady’s restroom at the hospital where my son was awaiting a diagnosis about a pain in his side.  The doctor was thinking this was an appendix thing and ordered a test to confirm that and we were waiting for the results.  The doctor was sure the tests would confirm their initial suspicions and began talking about surgery to remove his appendix. My husband was praying that … Continue reading Lesser Blood

The Righteous Judge

Jesus told them a picture-story to show that men should always pray and not give up. He said, “There was a man in one of the cities who was head of the court. His work was to say if a person was guilty or not. This man was not afraid of God. He did not respect any man.  In that city, there was a woman whose husband had died. She kept coming to him and saying, ‘Help me! There is someone who is working against me.’  For a while he would not help her. Then he began to think, ‘I am not afraid … Continue reading The Righteous Judge

Good King, Bad King

I read the Bible for the first time in 1983. I was a brand new Christian and wanted to see what God had to say for Himself. I started at Genesis and read through to Revelation. It took about 3 months. When I closed the book I lay my head down and cried. I grew up in a Presbyterian Church. We went on Sunday mornings and almost every other time the doors were open. I remember a lot of things but I don’t remember learning anything about God. I am sure He was mentioned but I’m just saying, for me, … Continue reading Good King, Bad King
