Promised Land

He brought us out from there in order to bring us in,

to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.

Deuteronomy 6:23

God brought the Israelites out of Egypt just as He promised. He didn’t however, bring them out just to bring them out although being freed from bondage would have been a tremendous blessing in and of itself. The full promise included bringing them in. He brought them out to bring them in.

Into what? Into a land of abundance, freedom, a land of blessing where He would be their God and they would be His people. It was to be an eleven-day journey that turned into forty years and a good number of people who left Egypt never made it to the Promised Land.

Their lack of faith stopped them from entering the miraculous provision God had for them. Instead of lining their thoughts up with His promise, they doubted, complained and murmured. Many even wished they could return to Egypt. Apparently being a slave was better to them than waiting on a promise they couldn’t wrap their minds around.

My takeaway from this is that God’s promises don’t always manifest in our time and in our way. Even so, His word still stands, His promises are still good and waiting is difficult. While waiting for the promise to manifest we can murmur, complain and lose out on our blessing or we can stand on His word and keep our focus on the God who never lies.

Whatever bondage God brought you out of He didn’t bring you out just to bring you out. He brought you out to open the door to a life of blessing beyond your wildest imagination. God has made the provision for us to live in health, prosperity, blessing, peace, purpose and freedom from sin. Our part is to simply believe and trust and never stop believing and trusting.

Father in heaven, how I love You. You have provided for my healing and deliverance and freedom through the gift of Your Son Jesus. Your plans for me are far beyond my wildest imaginations, who can take it in? When doubt wants to turn my thoughts and words to complaining and murmuring help me to redirect them to Your word and your gracious love. In Jesus’s name, I pray, amen.

  1. Praises to a God who looks past our many imperfections. He desires to free us from the bondage found in our transgressions. Only then will He call upon our patience to eventually enter His Promised Land. Diane, grace and peace be with you.
