Prayer for Healing from Breast Cancer

I didn’t write this but thought it was worth sharing. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2022 and this prayer is a powerful reminder of who my healer is. Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your steadfast love and kindness. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to heal us of our infirmities and diseases. Thank You for watching over us and our families. You are a wonderful God and we love You. We give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good. Your faithful love endures forever. Our souls bless You and remember all of Your … Continue reading Prayer for Healing from Breast Cancer

How Much Longer?!?!?!

When Pharoah let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, ‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt’ Exodus 13:17 I have been told it could have been a ten day journey at the most, leaving Egypt and heading to the Promised Land.  But it ended up taking 40 years. The only reason I can see is that their thinking had to change and it took a very long time for that to happen. They had to have time to … Continue reading How Much Longer?!?!?!

Glimpses of Heaven

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,    on earth as it is in heaven”… Matthew 6: 9-10 Years ago, when I was part of an intercessory prayer team, a mother asked us to pray for her daughter.  Her little girl was 4 and couldn’t walk.  She had numerous other issues and I forget what the diagnosis was but the prognosis was that she didn’t have long to live.  We prayed and then shared what we believed God had given us for this little girl.  Everyone shared that they saw … Continue reading Glimpses of Heaven

Wide Receivers

How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it.  Luke 13:34 Jesus is speaking here to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, lamenting the fact that they would not receive Him.   This is hard to imagine and yet, too often, I am guilty of the same. I think that the inability to receive still keeps Jesus at arms lengths. A giver, no matter how unlimited his resources can only give what the receiver can and will take in.  Most children are good receivers. Offer children a … Continue reading Wide Receivers

Angels Rejoicing

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:7 Some years ago, I went to the Healing Rooms to have people pray for me. I had had chronic pain for the majority of the past two decades. Two wonderful women prayed for me and one told me that while she was praying for me, she saw the angels in heaven rejoicing over my healing. She was all excited about that and I tried to be but … Continue reading Angels Rejoicing

Potential Jumper on I 5 Bridge

Some time ago, an incident happened on the I 5 bridge in Portland. A man was positioned to jump. He had a knife pointed at his stomach and a cell phone. This I read in the newspaper. I first heard about the incident however, from a woman who had been attempting to get home and was caught in the massive traffic jam caused by this incident. She came to where I work to pick up her son. She was mildly indignant about the whole thing. She went to great length to describe the scene – the man on the bridge, … Continue reading Potential Jumper on I 5 Bridge

Foregone Conclusion

And you shall again obey the Lord, and observe all His commandments which I command you today. Then the Lord your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand. Deuteronomy 30:8 Some time ago, puppies were born, nine of them. Puppy number six was different from the beginning. He was tiny, about 1/3 the size of the others and clearly underdeveloped. Dogs can conceive puppies several days apart and this is what apparently had happened. His litter mates were ready to be born, but he was not. Ready or not, he arrived. I looked him over … Continue reading Foregone Conclusion

God’s Prescription for Healing

…and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14 I realize in this passage that God is talking to an entire people group and not an individual.  However, I believe there are some things we can take from this and apply personally.  I see this as God’s prescription for healing and it has four steps. First, recognize that we are called by His name, we are His. Second, … Continue reading God’s Prescription for Healing

Tattletale

Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord; hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me. Psalm 86:6-7 Kids tend to tattletale. He said, she said, he did this, she didn’t do that, and on and on. Oftentimes the telling of the event gets bigger the more times the story is told, and too many times the story is told to other kids before it ever makes its way to a teacher who might be able to help. Kids being kids. Adults do the same thing. Oftentimes when we are going … Continue reading Tattletale

Day Planner

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but just because I can, doesn’t mean I should. Saying no is a healthy thing.  Saying no is also a relatively uncomfortable thing to do. So much emphasis is put on getting stuff done. Day planners promise fulfilled days if we can just get organized. Our lives will run so much better if we only learn to plan every minute, every hour of our day and check and double check to make sure we are on track. Ugh! I … Continue reading Day Planner
