The Table Is Set

Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Psalm 23:5 God has prepared a table for us that is laden with everything we have inherited through Christ—every spiritual blessing, every physical blessing, every weapon we will ever need, every provision we will ever need.  All there—laid out for us when we are in the presence of our enemies. The God who spoke this world into existence and created the many species and ecosystems, and gave each exactly what they needed—not only for survival, but also to work in relation to other ecosystems for mutual survival … Continue reading The Table Is Set

Kingdom Benefits

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! Psalm 103:1-5 NLT In this Psalm, David commands his soul (his mind, his will and his emotions) to line up with his spirit and bless the … Continue reading Kingdom Benefits

Pleasant Words

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.  Proverbs 16: 24 Pleasant words – words that encourage and lift up, words that minister life and grace and love and mercy.  Heard many of those lately?  Spoken many of those lately?  Sometimes, I have to admit, I am careless in my speech.  I speak from habit and convention.  People ask, “How are you? and I say “fine” whether I am or not.  And no one seems to really care.  And I think what difference does it make? The woman at the counter at … Continue reading Pleasant Words

Good King, Bad King

I read the Bible for the first time in 1983. I was a brand new Christian and wanted to see what God had to say for Himself. I started at Genesis and read through to Revelation. It took about 3 months. When I closed the book I lay my head down and cried. I grew up in a Presbyterian Church. We went on Sunday mornings and almost every other time the doors were open. I remember a lot of things but I don’t remember learning anything about God. I am sure He was mentioned but I’m just saying, for me, … Continue reading Good King, Bad King

Because Love is Important

At a recent outreach event our church held, kids were given air brush tattoos.  They got to pick from many different stencils.  A little girl chose the heart stencil.  When I asked her why she said, “because love is important.” The more time I spend around children, the more I appreciate the words of Jesus when He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Kids tend to get the simplicity of Jesus’ message.  Love Me, love My Father, love other people.  Simple. Jesus touched people … Continue reading Because Love is Important

God’s Memory

Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Hebrews 10:17 God’s memory seems to be selective as, no doubt, is ours.  He has chosen to name the stars and remember their names, He has chosen to count the numbers of hairs on my head and remember that.  He has remembered His covenant with His people and remembered my name. And your name. But He has chosen to remember my sins and your sins no more.  Wow!  Who does that?  I mean, don’t we all have people in our lives who are all to willing to remind us of our … Continue reading God’s Memory
