Something New

Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? Isaiah 43:18-19 I have made the mistake of looking back. Looking back at times when God healed me, instantly and not so instantly. I’ve even looked back on days when my walk with the Lord was more spontaneous, more joyful than it is right now and yearned for a return to those days.  Then I read this verse and am encouraged to look ahead, to whatever the something … Continue reading Something New

Glimpses of Heaven

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,    on earth as it is in heaven”… Matthew 6: 9-10 Years ago, when I was part of an intercessory prayer team, a mother asked us to pray for her daughter.  Her little girl was 4 and couldn’t walk.  She had numerous other issues and I forget what the diagnosis was but the prognosis was that she didn’t have long to live.  We prayed and then shared what we believed God had given us for this little girl.  Everyone shared that they saw … Continue reading Glimpses of Heaven

Lesser Blood

His sweat was, as it were, great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.  Luke 22:44 Lesser blood.  That was my first thought.  I am not proud of that, just saying. I was secluded in the lady’s restroom at the hospital where my son was awaiting a diagnosis about a pain in his side.  The doctor was thinking this was an appendix thing and ordered a test to confirm that and we were waiting for the results.  The doctor was sure the tests would confirm their initial suspicions and began talking about surgery to remove his appendix. My husband was praying that … Continue reading Lesser Blood

Oh, No, There Will Be Losers

The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. Deuteronomy 28:13 One day at work, kids were playing basketball, using street rules. There was no referee to call fouls and keep the game running smoothly and so the game didn’t run smoothly. A co-worker suggested that they just play for fun and that way they wouldn’t have winners and losers. One older boy immediately responded, … Continue reading Oh, No, There Will Be Losers

Affect or Infect

Fearing for their lives, the desperate sailors shouted to their gods for help and threw the cargo overboard to lighten the ship. But all this time Jonah was sound asleep down in the hold. Jonah 1:5  When I read this the other day, my first reaction was, of course he was sleeping. Doesn’t it always seem like the person that creates the havoc can be oblivious to the impending wreckage? Sleeping away while others are scratching their heads and cleaning up the mess? Jonah was running from God, these people on the boat didn’t know Jonah or Jonah’s God, the storm hadn’t … Continue reading Affect or Infect
