A New Name?

Don’t call me Naomi” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. Ruth 1:20   She followed her man. What else could she do?  Famine had taken hold of her land and all that was familiar was rapidly changing before her eyes. Besides, it’s only temporary, she told herself.  Once the famine is over, they will be back. She packed up her belongings and told her two sons to do the same. Then saying goodbye to Bethlehem, she followed her husband to Moab. Her name was Naomi which meant pleasantness. Her life became anything … Continue reading A New Name?

Spoiler Alert

I make known the end from the beginning Isaiah 46:10 Kids I work with are quite fond of issuing Spoiler Alerts!  They seem to enjoy ruining the ending of a movie for someone who hasn’t seen it yet.  Most of us would probably agree that anticipating the ending is a favorite part of movie watching.  We don’t want someone ruining that for us. Good Plans

This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. Jeremiah 29:11 I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I go through difficult times, I tend to think it is because of something I have done or failed to do.  And, in all honesty, sometimes … Continue reading Good Plans

We watched it rise, starting out huge and yellow as it made its way up the night sky, getting smaller and whiter in appearance. I was reminded of this … Continue reading Full Moon

Zentangle Quilt

In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Psalm 18:6 Our Creative Arts Life group made this Zentangle “quilt.”  Each tile represents an answered prayer. Our list of answered prayers was longer than the 18 tiles here, but we ran out of time to make them. This was a very rewarding project for me personally. I am believing for my healing, I’ve mentioned that before and I am not healed, not yet. I’ll admit, sometimes, that effects … Continue reading Zentangle Quilt
