Angels Rejoicing

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:7 Some years ago, I went to the Healing Rooms to have people pray for me. I had had chronic pain for the majority of the past two decades. Two wonderful women prayed for me and one told me that while she was praying for me, she saw the angels in heaven rejoicing over my healing. She was all excited about that and I tried to be but … Continue reading Angels Rejoicing

This is Not My Pain

Those who are righteous … will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is upheld, he will not fear, until he looks with satisfaction upon his adversaries. Psalm 112:6-8 Can I just be honest here? I have feared evil tidings. I have made doctor appointments and then cancelled them. I like denial. I don’t know which I think is more of an evil tiding—hearing a diagnosis or hearing a doctor say, “I just don’t know.”  Twenty of the past twenty two years, I have been in chronic pain. I had freedom from the … Continue reading This is Not My Pain

Cheerful Disposition

A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired. Proverbs 17:22 Everyday at work, I greet parents as they drop off their children.  I ask how are you doing and invariably I get the same responses, not bad for a Monday, well, it’s Wednesday, I’d be better if it were Friday, or just ok.  I listen as people speak gloom and doom over their days and their lives.  I commented to one woman that she must have really great weekends to dread Mondays and Tuesdays and all the other days and she said, no not … Continue reading Cheerful Disposition

Parting Words

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation…  And these signs shall accompany those who believed; in My name they will … lay hands on the sick and they will recover.  Matthew 16:18 These were Jesus’ parting words to His disciples.  Some have called this the Believer’s Bill of Rights.  I have read different commentaries on this and there seems to be some disagreement as to whether or not this is for all believers or just for those disciples.  I’d rather not get into that. I recently left my son in Montana to stay … Continue reading Parting Words

Watch Those Promises

Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my Word to perform it”.  Jeremiah 1:12 God doesn’t give His word lightly.  He doesn’t make promises and then change His mind.  I have learned the hard way how difficult it can be to keep promises.  My son reminds me from time to time of promises I’ve made that have slipped my mind.  They don’t slip his mind, let me tell you.  He definitely watches over my word to see me perform it.  I am held accountable for what I promised and I have learned … Continue reading Watch Those Promises
