If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’
and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen,
it will be done for him.
Mark 11:23
I just finished reading a wonderful book called Healing Prayer by Dr. Reginald Cherry. In it he writes that we are to use the authority given to us as believers “to speak to the specific mountain of sickness and command it to be gone” We are created in God’s image and when He spoke, things happened. Jesus is the one who spoke those words of the verse above. He tells us to speak to the mountain and do not doubt. Speaking is easy, not doubting requires more purposefully monitoring my thinking.
Too many times, speaking for myself here, I pray general prayers for healing. Dr. Cherry suggests praying more specifically. I need to learn what is going wrong in my body and speak directly to that (which would be easier to do if doctors agreed). In fact, he said he wouldn’t even allow anyone to pray a general prayer for healing for him. He would rather people “pray directed prayers that release healing to the specific problem.”
So to speak to the mountain of arthritis, I need to understand it better. I did some research. And so the mountain of arthritis, I say:
Cartilage be restored. Synovial fluid be plentiful. Immune system be stronger. Joints move freely, fluidly, dependably. Inflammation be gone. Immune system stop attacking my body.
Arthritis has been a part of my life for over 40 years but it’s time for it to go. It’s time I guess for me to take more initiative. I have been waiting on God to heal me and perhaps He has been waiting on me to be more active in this healing process. Talking about arthritis won’t get healed but declaring His promises, His sovereignty, His power and speaking to the arthritis will. Praise God!
What about you? Is there a mountain in your life that needs to move? How about speaking to it, telling it to move and see what God does with your faith?
Jesus, as You lead me in this path of healing, help me to be obedient to what You show me. Help me to speak with faith and authority to this mountain of arthritis and not just roll over and accept it. Thank You for leading me and being with me through this. You deserve all the glory, all the honor and all the praise. Amen.
