Put Me Together Again

untitled (11)

Everything’s falling apart on me, God; put me together again with your Word.

    Psalm 119:107 Message Bible

Ever feel that way?  Like everything’s falling apart?  How easy it is to catalog evidences of a life falling apart.  Whether its our relationships that have fallen apart or our health or our finances or a child that has taken a wrong turn or a world that seems to be in never ending turmoil.

This verse tells us that there is hope of being put together again.  That hope is found in God’s word.  The psalmist who wrote this verse is not demanding something from God, he is simply stating and placing His faith in the promises God has made in His word. Here are just a few to encourage us.

Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear.  Isaiah 59:1

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26

The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.

Jeremiah 31:3

In order to be put together again according to His word, we need to know His word, we need His word in us and before us. We need to read and study and meditate on His word like taking our daily vitamin or medicine. We need to recognize also that some things we just put together on our own.  And the good news is – we don’t have to.  We are told in Psalm 23:3 that He (the Good Shepherd) restores my soul and your soul.  Our soul is our mind, our will, our emotions. We can rest in the knowledge that He is at work restoring us, putting us together again.

Heavenly Father, Your book is a wonderful gift, love letters from Your heart to mine.  How blessed am I to have You and Your word living and active in my life.  When everything seems to be falling apart on me, would You put me back together again by Your word? Thank You for throwing a beam of light on my sometimes seemingly dark path.  In Jesus’s name, amen.

I would love to hear from you. Please let me know if I can be praying for you as well.
